Chocolove

This is some GOOD chocolate. I get it at the Granary here in Tyler (Tanglewood Shopping Center).

PB&J

I'm not sure Bryce would survive if it wasn't for the Peanut Butter and Jelly crustless sandwich. Some days he has had up to THREE a day!

Banana Tea Bread

What to do with bananas too ripe...make banana bread of course. :-)
Here is my favorite banana bread recipe.
Banana Tea Bread
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup sour cream (I have substituted plain lowfat yogurt)
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 cup mashed bananas (3)
2 Tbsp + 1 tsp milk
Cream butter and sugar together. Beat in eggs and sour cream. Stir in flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Add milk and bananas. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Makes one bread loaf (or I have made muffins too and added blueberries sometimes).

Children's Medical Center Holiday Parade

This year marked our 10th year going to the Dallas Children's Christmas Parade! We love seeing all the parade entries and listening to the bands...but we love the Hardin Simmons Cowboy Band!

Dad and Lad in the bleacher seats!

And the last float of the parade...was SANTA of course!

I know it has been forever since I've posted a blog...life has been busy. :-)
The top Christmas tree is the family tree (real tree) and the bottom Christmas tree (fake tree) is Bryce's. I love the Christmas season!

Dinner Out

For Labor Day weekend we visited the grandparents in Rockwall and went out to eat Saturday night. We celebrated Bryce's 11th birthday (early) and my in-laws anniversary....I think their 58th anniversary.

We went to The Old Warsaw in Dallas and let me tell you...it was FABULOUS! Great atmosphere...great service and GREAT FOOD!! http://www.oldwarsaw.com/site/

Bryce had a filet with sauteed mushrooms and French fries. Dave had lamb chops with a medley of veggies and cheesy potatoes. Wayne, my FIL, had beef stroganoff (over rice and topped with lobster!). Joyce, my MIL, had salmon over fettucine. Ruby, Dave's aunt, had a filet stuffed with crab and lobster with mashed potatoes. After everyone discussing the four course menu being a great one to choose from I was the only one who ordered off of it! For a starter I had asparagus soup (very good!). Appetizer (instead of salad) was smoked salmon (love smoked salmon!). My entre was an organic chicken breast with porcini mushrooms, truffles and lobster (way so yummy!) And my dessert was a chocolate souffle (heaven!!). Dave and Wayne split cherries jubilee...they just love those flaming desserts. :-)

Anyway...it was a lot of fun and I highly recommend The Old Warsaw for fine French Dining.
